Rita Woolhouse
 

Rita attended the NSW Conservatorium of Music High School before enrolling in tertiary study at the Conservatorium. Graduating with a DSCM in performance she studied under Colleen McMeekin, and David Pereira .

Rita is a cellist who enjoys playing many styles of music. She is an experienced chamber and orchestral musician and is currently playing with the Steel City Strings, Illawarra.
She has been part of the folk scene in the ACT & NSW for many years and has played in a number of bands including Madd Marianne, We Love you Madly, Replay and Turnip Sunday. She has performed at the Adelaide and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals touring with the celebrated cabaret group Funkier than Alice.

Rita has played and recorded extensively with Springtide including tours to UK, Ireland, and New Zealand. She brings to this highly regarded trio her superb arranging and performing skills.

As well as working as a freelance musician, Rita has taught cello and conducted string ensembles in many schools, at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music and at the Goulburn Regional Conservatorium. She has also worked as AMEB string examiner for a number of years.
