~ Musique Extraordinaire ~

Inspired by the greats of French Canadian music, Northern Confluence seeks to bring this vibrant music to Australia with a caché of superb Québécois dance tunes. Recreating the exhilarating dance scene of North America, Northern Confluence features two fabulous fiddles - Rob Mahony (check out his authentic Québécois stepping!), and Iska Sampson. They are joined by Greg Wilson on button accordian, and Jackie luke, hammered dulcimer. Underpinning the band is a stellar piano accompaniament by Andrew Back. All are highly respected musicians performing many genres and are members of the popular Canberra Contra Club. They play regulary for dances in Canberra and at festivals around Australia. In  February 2025 Northern Confluence featured in the Dulcimer Connections concert in Canberra. Watch to them play two Québécois reels -  "Reel de Tadoussac" and "La Reel du Pointe-au-Pic" to a captivated Smith's Alternative audience.   Apprécier!
